6 x $467 AUD
9 x $315 AUD
The next round of the facilitator training will begin on 7th September 2022. Enrolments will open on Monday 2nd May and close on 31st August.
After this, the next training round will be held at some point in 2023, dates TBC.
The training has evolved greatly from small beginnings and is now an extended 3.5 months course, allowing for indepth learning, growth, personal development and certification.
To complete the training and graduate as a Certified Facilitator you are required to complete all study components including:
– Watching all module lesson videos,
– Completing the practical activities and tasks for each module,
– Completing the workbooks and reflective assessment for each of the 6 modules,
– Participating in the group calls, and where you cannot join live, to watch 6 x module call recordings, and share your reflections on the call theme in the Facebook group.
Once you have completed these components you will be eligible to apply for Certification. Once you are certified you will be issued your certificate, added to our Facilitator Directory and be ready to start holding your own First Moon Circles!
We move through the live course at a pace that offers you accountability and encouragement to complete the course. However we recognise that life happens and also, that as cyclical people, we may need some space away from study at different times.
Therefore after completing the live component of the course you are given a 6 month time frame to complete the Certification requirements to formally graduate from the course.
After the live course ends, there will be no further opportunity to participate in live calls but recordings will be available.
You must complete all 6 modules, 6 reflections, and various other study requirements to become a Certified Facilitator. Only upon Certification are you permitted to hold First Moon Circles, receive your certificate and claim to be a Certified Facilitator. If you do not complete Certification within 6 months of completing the live course phase, you will still have access to the course materials but will not be conferred Certified Status and all the benefits that come with this.
We have introduced this 6 month timeframe to lovingly keep you accountable to completing the training – this is more than ample time even factoring in life’s unexpected challenges. There is no time frame imposed on when you should hold your first circle though.
Yes!! If you already have a business – whatever you currently do – you will be able to offer First Moon Circles and call yourself a First Moon Circle Facilitator. You will be given tools, templates, materials and resources to equip you to hold your own events but you are able to brand your circles marketing materials to match your own business. They must be named First Moon Circles, and the content must include core content of a First Moon Circle, but there will be the option to tweak, adapt and add to the session content to incorporate your own modalities / practices / rituals eg meditation, art or craft, movement, or other aligned wellbeing practice suitable for children.
You are so encouraged to join this training. You will learn all you need to know about facilitating safer and inclusive menstrual education circles for young people, what legal and practical measures you need to take to do so, and how to promote your events. We’ll support you with encouragement, inspiration and accountability to keep you moving towards holding your own Circles. We have had facilitators in a previous round who had no business or event experience go on to hold their own Circles successfully and grow from there.
All First Moon Circle Facilitators undertake training to learn to hold safer and inclusive circles and we acknowledge and honour that not all people who bleed are girls / female identifying, and that not all girls and females bleed.
We bring this into the First Moon Circles with an awareness that children who may not identify as female may still experience menstruation, and may have a complicated relationship with their period, their body and the concept of becoming a woman. We openly seek to learn parent and children’s personal pronouns, and explore with participants that some people do and do not menstrate in-session to raise awareness and promote menstrual and gender inclusion, without putting any person in the spotlight.
It is our highest wish and intention that if children who may be Non-Binary, LGBTQIA+, Transgender, Gender Queer or otherwise gender diverse and they wish to learn about periods in a female body, or a body that menstruates, and to celebrate this, they are very welcome to join. We aim to hold as safe a space as possible for them to learn how to care for their body, emotions and spirit through menarche. As facilitators we want to support all families.
Identity and Culture
We acknowledge that Black, Indigenous and People of Colour may experience menstruation differently, including more significant and earlier onset of symptoms, and may also experience difficulties relating to being heard and supported. We acknowledge that traditional cultures may celebrate their own menarche rituals and intend for First Moon Circles to complement those rites of passage celebrations.
We acknowledge that for many people, easy and affordable access to period products is not an option, and we seek to support participants to obtain plastic, toxin, and chemical-free period products where possible. We may be able to offer concession pricing to eligible persons to their First Moon Circles.
A 6 month payment plan is offered to support you to pay for your training costs, or you can pay in full, the choice is yours. Please contact us by email with any questions or requests you have about payment plans as we can be flexible and accommodating.
