A First Moon Circle is a celebratory ceremony for young girls aged 9-12 years old who are approaching menarche (their first period)
Give your child a positive, empowered start to puberty and menstruation by bringing them to their once-in-a-lifetime special First Moon Circle experience. Our next First Moon Circle on Saturday 21st March is for girls and their mothers and female caregivers to gather to learn and celebrate the changes that puberty brings. An empowering, fun, sacred and inclusive circle that goes way beyond school’s basic, limited period education and focuses instead on cycle self-care and self love so children feel prepared, informed, confident and supported to experience puberty and their first periods.
Your daughter will love this beautiful, magical activity where she can learn all about how she can look after herself as she grows up. Covering self-care, and teaching her how to get the best out of her superpowers as she begins her cycle, First Moon Circles are proving a fun and enjoyable way for girls to learn, play, and feel supported at a pivotal time in their lives.
Your child will receive an amazing high-value gift bag and their own beaded bracelet that they’ll make with you during the session to remind her of what she learns. Plus she’ll get to keep a 22-page booklet that explains all the knowledge and wisdom she’ll need to support her through puberty and into adulthood. Mothers/caregivers often learn something in this too. The final part of this session is a beautiful Mother-Daughter celebration where you can gift your child advice, wishes and show her you’re supporting her as she grows up.

Once parents have said goodbye to their children, we will begin with introductions and softening into each other’s presence with a fun ice-breaker game.

PERIODS & PUBERTY (CHILDREN ONLY
In our circle, we will discuss the physical changes which girls encounter during puberty, what’s normal and what’s not so normal. We’ll talk about self care and how to handle the arrival of your period.

PERIOD PRODUCT PLAT & Q&A (CHILDREN ONLY)
The fun part! We’ll also get hands on and playful with natural, healthy and organic sanitary items such as pads and liners, moon cups, tampons and period pants, helping girls get really comfortable with the products and relaxed about caring for themselves gently around their first moontime.

MENSTRUAL CYCLE AWARENESS (CHILDREN & ADULTS)
After the children’s session, mothers and carers are invited to join us for tea and snacks to celebrate this beautiful rite of passage and to pave the way for you and your daughter be able to speak freely, comfortably and openly at home over the months to come. We will bead a bracelet for children to keep as a reminder of the concept of menstrual cycle awareness, with an opportunity for some Q&A.

WISDOM SHARING CEREMONY (CHILDREN & PARENTS)
Finally, parents/caregivers will be invited to share any wisdom, wishes and hopes they have for their children.
Ellie is a First Moon Circle and Women’s Circle Facilitator. Since first learning about Menstrual Cycle Awareness back in 2021, Ellie has been on a journey to connect back with her cyclical nature, as well as helping to share this knowledge and wisdom with everyone she meets.
Ellie combines her experience of working in an SEN school with her experience in menstrual education to provide fun, empowering and positive circles for young girls to learn about their changing bodies and the menstrual cycle.
In her spare time, Ellie loves to be at the beach or in the forest, getting creative through dance and yoga, and spending time with her family, friends and pets.
