Beyond the Birds & Bees: Raising Girls Who Trust Their Bodies

Period education for girls needs to be more than one awkward talk. Explore puberty, rites of passage, Bodywise, and raising girls who trust their bodies. A Wild Flow conversation with Kate Andrews, founder of Wild Creative and author of Bodywise: A Puberty and Period Guide, on period education for girls, puberty as a rite of passage, and raising girls who trust their bodies.
Why Girls Deserve Menstrual Education Before Their First Period

What if we stopped waiting for a girl’s first period to start the conversation? In today’s episode of Wild Flow, I’m diving into why our daughters and the girls in our lives—deserve more than just a“talk” about periods at the last minute. They deserve a sacred rite of passage, and they deserve it before they bleed.
This episode is an invitation to remember the power of menstrual education not just as information—but as initiation. We’ll explore the deeper purpose behind First Moon Circles®, how reclaiming ritual at menarche can ripple generational healing outward and upward, and why menstrual empowerment is leadership in action.
Whether you’re a mother, teacher, mentor, or a woman who remembers how it felt to go through puberty alone—this is for you.
Because it’s never too early to begin healing. And the younger we begin, the deeper the roots grow.
Victoria Petersen – Seattle USA – First Moon Circles

Victoria Rose is a First Moon Circle Facilitator in Seattle, WA USA
Hi, I’m Victoria Rose — and I believe women will change the world, starting with how we raise our daughters.
I host Menarche Circles — sacred gatherings designed to celebrate and educate girls as they enter adolescence. These circles are for young girls and their female caregivers. Whether your daughter is approaching her first period or you’re simply looking to introduce her to cycle wisdom in a positive way, these events offer connection, confidence, and celebration.
I began this work by leading moon circles for adult women, helping them reconnect to their bodies, cycles, and truth. What I discovered was this: when a woman heals her relationship with her inner child, she becomes a powerful guide for the next generation. That’s where my passion lies — in uniting the maiden and the mother within, so we can raise a world of women who know their worth.
Many of us grew up feeling shame around our bodies and cycles. These circles create a new story — one of empowerment, understanding, and joy. Don’t worry if you didn’t have this experience yourself. That’s exactly why I hold these spaces: to support both you and your daughter in reclaiming and redefining this rite of passage.
I bring a deeply gentle, trauma-informed approach to everything I do — shaped by my own journey leaving high-control religion and reconnecting to my body and feminine power. Through ritual, education, and shared storytelling, I help mothers and daughters bond over something truly sacred: becoming women.
Circles are held in Seattle, Washington USA and available for private or small group gatherings.
Let’s raise a new generation to love their bodies and trust their cycles — and reconnect with the women we’ve always been.
